How To Nail The Zeta Casual Look Each and Every Time

Finer Women Rising: Zeta Phi Beta Casual Clothes

As much as I love to dress up, not every Zeta or greek function calls for business, formal or semi-formal attire. So what’s a Finer woman to do?

For community service projects, health & fitness related activities, step/yard shows and outdoor events such as greek picnics, I prefer to dress “Zeta Casual” style.

I define Zeta casual as royal blue and/or white casual attire (t-shirt, jeans, maxi dress, shorts, etc.), accessories and Zeta paraphernalia.

6 keys to making the Zeta casual look work is to keep it CCCPPP (Classy, Clean, Color-Appropriate, Pressed, Presentable & Pearled).

  • Keep It Classy
With summer in full swing, many of us are eager to shed our bulky winter gear. You can keep your Zeta casual gear classy by wearing clothes that fit and are made for your body type. Avoid skirts, shorts or tops that are super short, super tight or that leave you super-exposed.
  • Keep It Clean
Keep your Zeta casual wear clean. Your clothes should be free of stains, dirt or spots. Nuff said right?
  • Keep It Color-Appropriate
This one is simple – make sure your Zeta casual gear consists of royal blue and white items. Wearing red, green, pink or gold when representing Zeta is a no-no.
  • Keep It Pressed
Walking out the house with a wrinkled Zeta t-shirt (or wrinkled anything) is certainly not the business, so lightly iron or run a steamer over your clothes to keep them in pristine condition.
  • Keep It Presentable
Lastly, keep your Zeta casual gear presentable. Some think that casual means “anything is acceptable” or “just throw on anything” – nothing could be further from the truth. Don’t just throw on a Zeta hat, some blue flip-flops and be out. Use the same amount of scrutiny in choosing your Zeta casual gear as you would your formal attire – because despite the occasion, you’re still representing Zeta publicly.
  • Keep It Pearled
Add a touch of class to your casual outfit by rocking a pearl necklace or bracelet. Now pearls are probably more appropriate for Zeta casual gear you’d wear to a greek picnic or stepshow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Soror run a 5k in pearls, but hey, there’s a first time for everything.

So we’ve talked about how to make the Zeta casual look work – now here are some suggestions for Zeta casual gear to wear at various events. For a more extensive list of clothing items, download the Ultimate Zeta Wardrobe Checklist.
